#1 Worst Thing About Being a Foster Care Parent

How do I choose? There are so many horrible things about being a foster parent. . .

If I could choose from a list of bad things about being a foster parent - the list would be long - this is my choice:

You will fall in love with the children.

So, you may ask what is the #1 Best thing about being a foster parent??

You will fall in love with the children.

Whether they leave in a month or a year, it will be one of the most painful things you ever go through. But, like childbirth, we keep doing it over and over again.

Why? It is simple; the good outweighs the bad.

~Susan

Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.
Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,
So are the children of one’s youth.
Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them;
They shall not be ashamed,
But shall speak with their enemies in the gate.
Psalm 127: 3-5

Oh yeah, you hit the nail on the head. And each time a piece of your heart is riped out, god ses fit to give you more love to give to another child.

Hi Beth,

It is comforting to hear from someone who really understands and has been there too. It is hard to explain, but I know you know. . .

Have you heard about the new law passed by congress and signed by the President this week? Your lender has to agree to renegotiating your load to the appraised value less 10% (they write off the loss, but the FHA backs the loan). Whenever you sell the house, if there is any profit, it gets split between the lender, FHA, and you... =)This could easily save you 30% per month.. Love you..

This one is from Kelly.. The worst thing about being a foster parent is.... of course the loss of children, but far more so is the reason is that it so often happens. Crazy, ultra liberal, socialist case workers and lawmakers that believe reunification at any cost is better than stable forever families. The amount of damage done to these children while the system attempts to cure/fix the bio parents is unfathomable... If a bio parent loses a child to their addictions/failings once and that is not enough to get them to change their lives, should we continue to try/sacrifice as they lose their 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc.. children?
